Joe was admitted to practice in 2008 and called to the Bar in 2017. He has a diverse practice in public and commercial law, with a particular interest and expertise in administrative and constitutional law; regulatory investigations and proceedings; public interest immunity and information protection; and inquests and other public inquiries. He regularly acts for and against Commonwealth and State agencies and regulatory bodies.
Before coming to the Bar, Joe worked in a variety of legal roles for the Commonwealth Government. He was Counsel Assisting the Commonwealth Solicitor-General, Justin Gleeson SC, from 2013-2014, and practised as a solicitor at the Australian Government Solicitor for over 8 years, in both the Office of General Counsel (Canberra) and the Dispute Resolution Group (Sydney).
Joe also previously worked for the Hon Justice Richard White at the Supreme Court of New South Wales, at a top-tier Australian law firm and at New York University (NYU).
Joe has an LLM from NYU School of Law, which he attended on a Vanderbilt Scholarship, and an LLB (First Class Honours) and BA from the University of Sydney.
