Tutoring arrangements
Omnia Chambers expects its readers to have a member of chambers as one of their tutors. Our clerk can assist you in identifying a suitable tutor whose skills and expertise will help you make the most of your readership year. In keeping with the ethos of Omnia Chambers, the chambers as a whole will be committed to your development as a barrister.
Accommodation and other practical arrangements
Readers at Omnia Chambers will be provided with a room for 12 months. This room is centrally located in chambers and fitted out with a work desk and storage space. Readers will not be charged rent or floor fees during their readership year; only disbursements such as telephone and printing charges. Readers will be supported by our experienced clerk, Robbie Leach, and have access to a subscription with Westlaw free of charge. The subscription will provide access to a range of authorised Commonwealth, State and Territory law reports and a selection of legal encyclopedias, commentary and secondary legal resources for the duration of their readership.
Post-readership arrangements
Following successful completion of their readership year, readers will typically be invited to join Omnia Chambers as a licensee for at least one further year. Licensees will be provided with a room in chambers that is centrally located and fitted out with a work desk and storage space. Licensees will be charged rent and floor fees at a level commensurate with their seniority.
The application process
Omnia Chambers wants to hear from prospective readers with a combination of outstanding academic results; strong professional experience in legal practice, government, the community sector or academia; demonstrated skill in written or oral advocacy or a willingness to learn; and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional achievement and collegiality.

- A brief covering letter introducing yourself and your interest in Omnia Chambers
- (Optional but strongly encouraged) the names and contact details of up to two professional referees
- (Optional) details of any Omnia Chambers members you have worked and/or studied with.

Applications for the readership position commencing in May 2026 should be submitted by 5pm, Monday 2 December 2024.
Interviews and offers
Following receipt of applications, Omnia Chambers will select candidates to be interviewed by members of the Readership Committee. Interviews will be conducted shortly after the due date for applications and offers will be made promptly thereafter.
